When we find ourselves in life’s uncomfortable moments it would be prudent to examine how God uses prayer to:

• Draw us closer to Him: When our world feels shaky, it’s an invitation to run to God, our source of strength.
• Shake our confidence in worldly things: Sometimes God allows things to be shaken so we can place our full trust in Him.

The Bible is full of stories of ordinary people who accomplished extraordinary things through prayer. Prayer isn’t about religious obligation; it’s about connecting with a loving God who wants to work through you!

In the coming weeks, we’ll delve into the “Lord’s Prayer” (Matthew 6). Jesus gives us a masterclass in prayer, shattering misconceptions and showing us how to approach God with authenticity.

First, let’s address some challenges:

• False piety: Don’t pray just to impress others. True prayer is a heart-to-heart conversation with God.
• Empty words: Trying to sound important won’t get you anywhere with God. He already knows your heart.

So, why pray if God knows our needs? That’s a question we’ll explore as we dive deeper.

Our journey begins with understanding the opening line: “Our Father in Heaven…”

• Who is your Father? God isn’t a distant ruler, He’s our loving Father. This changes how we approach Him.
• “Our” Father: We are part of a vast family of believers. This should change how we see others.
• “In Heaven”: We are not praying to a local deity, but to the Almighty God who reigns over the universe. The resources of Heaven are at our disposal!
